授業の目標
 Vacuum technology is of great importance in any technological field of 
energy engineering. In this lecture, we learn about fundamentals of vacuum 
technology. Vacuum condition strongly affects surface condition and gas 
impurity concentrations of any materials. Control of vacuum condition may 
result in dramatic changes in physical and/or chemical properties of 
materials used. We should learn the importance of vacuum control, and the 
quality of vacuum inside of a system used. In this lecture we learn 
physical background of kinetics and statistics of gas molecules. And the 
relation between vacuum and surface processes of gases on a metal will be 
discussed.

 Every student or participant of this lecture is expected to give a 
presentation about a fixed subject given before as a home task. Please prepare 
your presentation, and give your presentation to all other participants of 
this lecture. Your presentation will be highly rated in your score. 
 This lecture will be given in English. However, lecture may be given patly in 
Japanese in accordance with requirement of lecture participants.
