授業の目標
Bridges and buildings are vulnerable to dynamic forces such as winds and 
earthquakes. These structures are complicated and the response to these 
forces cannot be easily obtained. This lecture first introduces 
fundamental theories of dynamic structural analysis for the single degree 
of freedom structures, then moves to more advanced theories for the multi-
degrees of freedom structures. Most of the actual structures have multi-
degrees of freedom. Third, as an application of this theory, seismic 
design method is explained based on the design specification for road 
bridges in Japan. This lecture is mainly given in English. English is the 
most commonly used language in the world business and industries and is 
also essential to engineers as well.

It may be difficult to understand new ideas and theories in English. Try to 
read the handouts carefully before and after lectures, and do many exercises 
by yourself.
