The course gives an introduction to solid-state chemistry and physical
chemistry in crystalline compounds, with an introductory on materials-
related physics and chemistry. Build-up and systematics of materials are
in focuses, with emphasis on characterisation of inorganic solids. The
lecture then moves on to crystal chemistry, diffraction / scattering
techniques, crystal defects and their related thermodynamics. Finally,
several physical / chemical properties are discussed in terms of their
importance in modern, advanced materials and application.
